COLORADO FIRST ● VOLUNTEER

VOLUNTEERS MAKE FIRST POSSIBLE

Every Colorado FIRST event is powered by people who give their time, energy, and experience to create an unforgettable experience for students.

Whether you have a few hours, a full weekend, technical skills, organizational experience, or simply a desire to help, there is a volunteer role for you.

A ROLE FOR EVERYONE

You Don’t Need Robotics Experience

FIRST events need judges, queuers, inspectors, registration volunteers, field support, photographers, announcers, logistics teams, and many more roles.

Training and resources are available to help volunteers feel prepared and confident.

Do I need robotics experience?

No. Many volunteer roles require no technical background at all. Training and experienced volunteers are available to help you learn.

How much time do I need to commit?

It depends on the role. Some opportunities may only require several hours, while key event positions may require one or more full event days.

Can I volunteer with friends or coworkers?

Yes. Many events can accommodate groups, companies, alumni, families, or friends who would like to volunteer together.

Do volunteers receive training?

Yes. FIRST provides training resources for many roles, and event leadership provides additional instructions before or during the event.

Are there age requirements?

Yes. Minimum ages vary by program and role. Some positions also require volunteers to be adults or complete additional Youth Protection requirements.

What if I don't see the event I want?

Volunteer opportunities are added as events are confirmed. The FIRST volunteer system may also undergo seasonal updates, so check back as new events become available.

Become Volunteer Ready

New to volunteering with FIRST? The Volunteer Ready path is designed to help you understand the FIRST community, expectations, and experience before you arrive at your event.

The Volunteer Ready path includes a short Welcome to FIRST training that introduces volunteers to the FIRST ethos and helps prepare them for their role in creating a positive, welcoming experience for teams and students.
